It is very important to recognize resistance, not just in clients but also in ourselves and our family. My husband and I embarked on a real estate investing journey. I noted that my husband asks many questions and want to run the numbers over and over again. It took me a while to recognize that this was his way of resistance. Real estate investment is a big commitment and I think he had concerns about it. His way of showing this concern was through asking the same questions over and over, running numbers and asking for data again and again. Once I was able to recognize this as his way of showing resistance, we were able to talk about his concerns, address them and move forward. Recognizing resistance is crucial.
